LARRY E. CHANCELLOR, affectionately known as Koolaid, was born on November 14th, 1958 in Anderson, South Carolina, to the late Susie Mae Freeman Chancellor and Theumus Sylvester Chancellor Sr. Larry was the eighth of ten children.
Larry attended T.L. Hannah High School in Anderson, South Carolina. He spent his young adult years in Anderson before relocating to Miami, FL, to be with his eldest sister and her children. He worked at the Omni Hotel in the laundry department as a presser, earning the reputation as the 'starch master'. It was there that he met Howard (of Colombia), and the two became lifelong friends, later joined by Edison and Harvey, forming a close-knit brotherhood. During this time, Larry also became the proud father of a son, affectionately called Lil' Larry or Bear, who would join him at various times throughout his life in Anderson.
Later, Larry returned to Anderson, where he married Teresa Allen Chancellor. Together they raised two daughters, Crystal and Raiyvn, and built a life filled with love and family until their eventual separation. In his later years, he shared his life with his partner Shirley Glover, residing in Homeland Park until his final days.
Larry was employed at Electrolux in various roles for many years. In February, 2024, Larry quietly left the workforce due to illness. He spent his remaining days relaxing and enjoying the company of familiar faces and old friends, often at 'the shop' where he enjoyed the company of Carl and the crew from childhood.
Larry was known for his affectionate smile and kind spirit, which left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He loved cooking, and nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by family and spending time with his granddaughter Tootie. He was also a devoted fan to the Pittsburgh Steelers and South Carolina Gamecocks. He was a man who found happiness in simple moments, laughter and good company, and peace in the love he both gave and received.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brothers: Sylvester Jr., James Henry, Jerry, and Ronald. and his sisters: Betty Joe, Martha Faye and Emma Buckley.
On October 9, 2025, Larry began his peaceful transition from earthly life. Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Raivyn Chancellor, Crystal Allen and Larry 'Bear' Chancellor; grandchildren: Y'Hyines 'Toot' Charmir, Lia Chancellor and Larry Chancellor and Spirit Chancellor; brother William Chancellor (Beth), sister Eva Ann Hammond (Thomas*) and aunt Geneva Ware; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends.
Larry will leave behind a legacy of warmth, laughter and love that will live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew him.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2025 in the Ollie Robinson Brown Memorial Chapel of Marcus D. Brown Funeral Home. Public viewing will be held Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
