Memorial Services for Larry James Chapman, 63 of Courtney, is scheduled to be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with Bro. Ronnie Carroll officiating with Michael Sanchez assisting. Following the service, the inurnment of his ashes will be placed at Belleville Bourland Cemetery with Michael Sanchez officiating. The services are under the direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home and Crematory in Wilson.
Larry was born on November 6, 1961, in Ardmore, OK, to the late L.J. Chapman and Carol Jean (Black) Chapman. He departed this life on Saturday, April 12, 2025, in Ardmore, surrounded by his loving family. For 63 years, he was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and a friend to many.
Larry started his career in the oilfield in Oklahoma and Florida, followed by the Tandy Corporation in Fort Worth, TX. He then moved to Las Vegas and worked at Landmark Casino. Upon returning to Oklahoma, he worked in construction in Texas. He retired to help his mom and dad on the Chapman Ranch.
Larry graduated from Ringling High School in 1980. He enjoyed camping, traveling, spending time at the river, being with family and friends, and especially loved being with his sister's kids and grandkids. They brought joy to his life. Larry had a special nickname for each child. He took pride in attending as many activities with his sister's kids and grandkids as possible. Each child will miss his laughter, hugs, special treats and gifts, and the love shared with each of them. They all knew how much he loved them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, L.J. Chapman and Carol Chapman; his infant sister, Carla; and his brother-in-law, Dr. Jim Rose.
Survivors include 3 sisters, Cindy Rose, of Courtney, OK, Tammy Holder and husband Dennis of Chickasha, OK, and Shelly Milson and husband Larry of Ardmore, OK; and adopted brother, Jimmy Dodson of Ardmore, OK; nieces and nephews, Roy Branch and wife Courtney, Kimmie Wilson, Summer Phelps and husband Jason, Courtney Baird and husband Chuck, Cody Rose and wife Sara, Chris Holder, Candace Holder, Cacey Walker and husband Brandon, Amy Milson and Charlotte Camp, and Kari Sanchez and husband Michael.
Honorary pallbearers are Colton Branch, Kinsey Branch, Justtice Wilson, Jakob Wilson, Jhett Rose, Kamille Rose, Brody Rose, Chloe Phelps, McKenzie Sanchez, Jordan Milson, Tamryn Baird, Jonathon Baird, Matthew Baird, Luke Holder, Christa Holder, Braden Holder, Bailey Holder, Everett Walker, Robbie Dodson, Al, and the Class of 1980.
