Larry "Gene" Chipman

Larry "Gene" Chipman, 81, of Sciota passed away at 7:50 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2026 at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born on December 24, 1944 in Macomb to Garold and Opal Boote Chipman. He married Kathy Milller in 1967. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Renee (Mike) Haffner, Scott (Heather) Chipman and Stacey (Byron) Benion; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth and Katie Haffner, Braden, Sydney, Alexis, and Mason Chipman and Payton, Titus and Isaac Benion and two brothers, Duane of Good Hope and Donald (Vera) of Roseville and one sister; Marilyn (Neal) Moore of Blandinsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Virginia Chipman.

Gene was a graduate of Northwestern High School in 1962 when he enrolled in the US Navy for 3 and ½ years. He came home and joined his father on the family farm until Garold's passing in 1975. Gene continued to farm until his passing. He was a volunteer for the Sciota Fire Department.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Blandinsville. There will be no service.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Blandinsville Veterans Memorial.
