Larry Claypool Obituary

Larry Kevin Claypool

April 7, 1952 - September 30, 2024

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Larry Kevin Claypool on September 30, 2024, at the age of 72. Larry was born on April 7, 1952, in Fort Collins, Colo., to Carl and Celia Claypool. Larry spent 45 years with his beloved wife, Carol Claypool. They had two children: Trent and Whitney. Larry was known for his deep compassion, love, and patience, both at home and in the community.

Larry was an alumnus of the University of Wyoming and worked for the Bureau of Land Management for 34 years, starting as a petroleum engineer and retiring as the Associate State Director of Wyoming in 2018. As Larry's children became dedicated swimmers, he invested his time away from work becoming a coach and official, leaving a tremendous impact on not only his children and athletes, but swimming in the state of Wyoming.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Celia Claypool; and two grandchildren, Emma and Logan Claypool. He is survived by his wife, Carol; children: Trent (m. Brittany) and Whitney; sisters: Marvi (m. Ken) and Tammy (m. Huck); and his grandchildren: Payton and Brandt.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes in Cheyenne, Wyo., on Friday, October 11, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please make contributions to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter.
