Larry Colgan

DEFIANCE - Larry L. Colgan, age 75 of Defiance, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones at home.

He was born on October 12, 1950, to Mable Irene Colgan and Martin John Colgan in Defiance, Ohio. On March 31, 1972, he married the love of his life, Sandra (Kiessling) Colgan who survives.

Larry loved our place at Lake Erie, bowling with his friends, and his time with his mowers. He was also an avid motorcycle rider and belonged to "The Continentals". He was a life member of Defiance Eagles #372 and Secretary for 9 years. He was also a life member of Moose Lodge #2094 and Napoleon Eagles #4428 and was Secretary for 20 years. He worked at Omni Source for 44 years until his retirement.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Sandra Colgan, two sons, Troy "TJ" Colgan and Alex Wade, granddaughter Elizabeth Colgan, and two great-granddaughters Emberly and Ezlyn Oehler. He also leaves behind our chosen children, Amber Schlosser and Travis Riley, four grandkids, Kenny and Kody Schlosser and Brooklynn and Braxton Riley, nephews Mark and Scott Slight, and niece Pam Slight, our chosen grandkids, Gavin, Alexis and Tyler Schilt, and chosen great-grandkids, Aiden, Xzavier, Isaak, Everly and Aria Schilt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Mable Colgan, and his nephew Timothy Slight.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. noon on Friday, November 21st at the funeral home with Crystal Church officiating. Larry will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
