Larry Lee Davis, age 84, of Seymour, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Davis graduated from Columbus East High School in 1960. He began his career at Cummins Engine Co. on February 22, 1962, where he worked as a team leader until his retirement on June 1, 2002.
Larry had a great passion for riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He also enjoyed fishing, especially taking fishing trips to Minnesota with his father at his cabin. An avid outdoorsman, Larry loved hunting and proudly taking his Roadrunner to car shows. In addition, Larry was an enthusiast of shooting sports and archery, earning the title of Indiana State Archery Champion in 1978.
Larry was a member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion, and Diesel Workers Union. He had a happy disposition, as he was a "walking joke book" and always loved making people laugh.
Born on March 6, 1941, in Columbus, Larry was the son of Gerald A. and Norma L. (Neal) Davis, both of whom preceded him in death. On March 31, 1962, in Bartholomew County, he married Roberta Kay Clary, and she preceded him in death on April 16, 2005.
Survivors include two daughters: Kimberly Jo (Terry) Galbraith of Seymour, and Peggy Lee Davis of Seymour; three grandchildren: Jason Allen (Dorsey) Davis of Seymour, Gregory Lee (Margo) Davis of Seymour, and Justin Lynn (Abby) Davis of Freetown; two great-grandchildren: Tyson Lee (Jessica) Eugene Davis of Seymour and Chanse Lynn Davis of Seymour; one great-great grandson, Kingston Lee Davis of Seymour; one sister, Sharon K. (D.C.) Long of Reddington; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Davis was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Allen Edward and Ruth (VanBlaricum) Neal; paternal grandparents, Ralph A. and Gertrude C. Davis; two grandchildren: Christopher Eugene Davis and Amanda Kay Davis; one great-grandson, Jaron Lee Davis; one brother, Ralph E. Davis; one sister, Patricia A. Gordon; and one nephew.
Funeral services for Larry Lee Davis will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor Scott Ackeret officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc.
Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour.
Memorials may be given to Gentiva Hospice.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the caring staff at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc.
