Larry "Man" Dawson Jr.

It is with deep sorrow that we reflect on the life of Larry Dawson Jr., who left us on February 6, 2026, at the age of 41. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, on December 12, 1984, Larry, affectionately known as "Man," was a vibrant soul whose kindness and warmth left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Larry was a son to Ella and Larry Dawson Sr. and grew up surrounded by the love of family and a strong community. With a passion for storytelling, he pursued his interests at Youngstown State University studying journalism, even co-authoring a children's book titled *Imagine Me*. A true testament to his resilience, he was also a proud cancer survivor, embodying strength throughout his life.

Beyond his educational pursuits, Larry was an accomplished actor with film credits. He appeared in several notable cinematic projects which included W all of Secrets, Manhunt Deadly Games, Sweet Girls, I'm Your Woman and Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.

As "Larry From Last Night," he created content that resonated with many across various social media platforms. His talents extended to the world of beauty and fashion, as he worked as a nail technician and designer, leaving his creative fingerprints everywhere he went.

Larry was a devoted fan of Beyoncé and the Cleveland Browns, and he embraced life to the fullest, traveling and exploring the world with a free spirit and contagious enthusiasm. He loved fiercely and unconditionally, becoming a source of joy and strength for those around him.

Larry will be remembered by his loving parents, his husband Dorian Thomas Dawson, siblings Latrese Dawson, Chaia Dawson, and Ellis Dawson, and two cherished goddaughters, along with a wide circle of family and friends who will forever hold his memory close.

Larry was preceded in death by his grandfathers Ernest Dawson, Leroy Cochrane Sr.; grandmothers Emma Dawson, Julia Maye Cochran; uncles Don Dawson, Clifton Colyar; aunts Sybil Banks, Alberta Colyar Teton, Anne-Marie Williams, cousins Iteia Colyar, Kareem Triggs Jr., and great nephew Xavior Beck Larry Dawson Jr.

As we prepare to bid farewell, we invite all who loved Larry to reflect on the light he brought into their lives. Services will be held at the Jaylex Event Center, 2110 Glenwood Ave, Youngstown, OH. A public viewing will take place on Thursday February 19, 2026, at 11:00 AM, followed by a Celebration and Remembrance Service at 12:00 PM. Rev. Moncia Beasley-Martin and Rev. Lewis W. Macklin will officiate the ceremony.

In honoring Larry's memory, we embrace the love he shared so generously and the joy he instilled in the hearts of many. Let us come together to celebrate a life well-lived, remembering the laughter, kindness, and unforgettable spirit of Larry Dawson Jr. His legacy of love, laughter, and authenticity will continue to inspire us all.
