Larry Edwards Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel on Dec. 18, 2021.
Larry Joe Edwards Jr. of Moore, Oklahoma, passed away from this life on December 15, 2021, at the age of 48. Larry was born in Oklahoma City to Larry Joe Edwards Sr. and Connie Mae Edwards (Harris) on April 12, 1973. Larry grew up in the metro area, primarily in Del City, Oklahoma. As a senior in high school, Larry met the love of his life, Pamela. The young couple dated for two years before tying the knot in an intimate ceremony at the Oklahoma City courthouse on April 8, 1992. Larry and Pam both played sports in college, and Pam was impressed by Larry's athletic prowess, saying that he could hit a baseball further than anyone she had ever seen.
Larry loved sports, especially football, baseball, and softball. He played baseball in college for Rose State University. Later, when daughter Trenity began playing ball herself, she took after her dad's athleticism, and could hit a ball just as far. Larry coached Little League for many years, later becoming a talented and sought-after hitting coach, coaching many young men and women in baseball and softball, even assisting some with obtaining athletic scholarships, something Larry was very proud of.
He was a faithful family man, and an incredible husband and father. Later, when his grandson was born, he fell in love all over again, settling into the role of grandpa like it was made for him. His generosity was always at the forefront of who he was, and Larry was the kind of guy who helped anyone in need, anytime they needed it. He loved joking around and playing pranks on his family, creating many fun memories for his children.
Larry had a few hobbies besides sports. He enjoyed watching suspense and crime TV – he and Pam enjoyed watching Dexter from start to finish – and he loved action movies as well. He also loved to go fishing, his "honey hole" being a secret that only his fishing partner, Gary, knew the location of. Larry's kind, warm heart touched the lives of many, and he will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Joe Edwards Sr., a brother, DeMarlin Edwards Wilson, his maternal grandparents, Bessie Pittman and Patrick Harris, and his paternal grandparents, Jessie Liddell-Edwards and Anderson Edwards, an aunt, France Edwards, and three uncles, Jerry, Marlin, and Mack Edwards.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Pam Edwards; his children, Tallen Edwards, Larry Joe Edwards III, and Trenity Edwards; his mother, Connie Mae Edwards; his grandson, JaeJae Joe Edwards; a brother, Arlandus Gaines, and sisters Irisia Brown, and Ashley Edwards; his aunts, Angelia Green, Norman Dean Edwards, Carol Jane Edwards, Helen Chapman-Edwards, Georgia Green-Edwards, and Gracie Glenn Edwards, and his uncles, James Pittmon, Charles Edwards, and Jackie Edwards; two nieces, Trelishiea Gaines, Reanna Gaines, and one nephew Arlandus Gaines Jr.; a cousin, Kem Edwards; his lifelong best friends, Gary and Chad; as well as a host of other loving cousins, extended family members, and friends.
