Larry L. Fahnestock, 81, of Shippensburg, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born September 16, 1944, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Clarence and Evelyn McKelvey Fahnestock.
Larry was employed as a machinist at Landis Machine Company in Waynesboro for 30 years until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Larry loved his black coffee, spending time with his family, and his dogs, Molly Ann and Dottie May.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Janet M. Sechrist Fahnestock, whom he married on April 11, 1966; one daughter, Kimberly Lynch and husband Tony, Sr. of Shippensburg; two grandchildren, Nichole Hofe and husband Timothy and Tony Lynch, Jr., both of Shippensburg; two great grandchildren, Karly Elizabeth Yohe and Alexandria Nichole Yohe; his nephew Ronnie Wengert of Orrtanna; and great nephew, J.R. Wengert of Orrtanna. Aside from his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his son, Larry Lee Fahnestock; and three siblings, Terry Fahnestock, Peggy Byers, and Vivian Cook.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Pastor Phillip Zook will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
