He was known as "Fungun" to many of us who played basketball with him wile we were growing up in Amherst. There are many crazy stories I could talk about us all growing up together, but Larry´s true "legacy" with me had to do with a certain singer-songwriter.... I was kind of a music snob and considered myself to be above listening to John Denver, but Larry loved his music and would always play the "Country Boy´s albums when hung around the Kensington Avenue home. I grew a fondness for Denver´s music because of Larry.... And to this day I cannot hear a John Denver song with thinking of "Fungun".

I served with Larry at Luke AFB in the same squadron all four of his years. We often played sports during the week on and off base. Loved the guy! We were two guys from New York sent to the desert. I considered him a good friend! My heart goes out to his family.

Lar - I know you are watching & you know how much we miss you. Your antics with Gianna's ball made Kyle believe! Your deal with the pen, made Shane believe! Here's a picture of Camden Odell Funseth for the record book.

Larry was one of my husband Michael's best friends. They were going to start a pizza business together and then Larry had to have heart surgery and shortly afterward my husband was diagnosed with head and neck cancer. Before he passed away, Larry was a constant companion and help to our family. That is something I will never forget. He was a true friend of mine. He is also the last person that my husband led to the Lord and my hope now is that he was serious in his prayer to accept Jesus and is with Him now. I wish I could have been there to show my respects but I did not know until now that he passed. I am sad also because he had writings that my husband dictated to him, that he never gave me. He will be missed that is for sure!

To all the lives that Larry touched, I am deeply saddened to hear this news and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers during the coming weeks. I met Larry while he was in the Accounting group at McDonnell Douglas/Boeing. His determination to get the job done was an inspiration to all. We played league softball together on a team named...Merle's Mutants. I think Larry had some influence when the team name was decided; he had a great sense of humor. Larry also joined our Wednesday night after-work horseshoe throwing group where we made many lasting memories by throwing an occasional errant horseshoe, besting the opponent's last throw, eating good food while drinking a cold one or two and of course, laughing a lot. I will never forget Larry's smile and his zest for life, the fact that he loved to be outdoors. What a wonderful man Larry was and he will be missed. He will truly be in our hearts, forever. May God Bless you all.
