Larry B. Hayes, 77, of Florence, AZ passed away on Sunday December 14, 2025, at Honor Health 4 Peaks Medical Center in Mesa, AZ.
Larry was born on January 14, 1948, in DeKalb, IL to Vernon "Bud" Hayes and Dorothy Capehart. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout and graduated from DeKalb High School in 1966. During his high school years, he was active in athletics, playing football team and competing as a pole vaulter on the track team.
Larry served in the Air Force from 1968-1972. During that time, he was a communications specialist and was based in the Philippines.
Larry earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and later a master's degree in Real Estate Appraisal from the University of Wisconsin.
He worked for many years as a self-employed real estate appraiser and later worked as an appraiser for B,B & T Bank.
During his retirement, Larry spent his summers in Hurley, WI and winters in Florence, AZ. He enjoyed playing golf and remained active in the local veteran community, serving on the board of the American Legion in Florence, AZ.
Larry is survived by his son Jeff (Kathy); his brothers Gary (Karen) and Roger (Cindy); and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Vernon "Bud" Hayes and Dorothy Capehart.
