Larry Herman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home - Forsyth on Dec. 8, 2023.
Larry Robert Herman of Forsyth, gained his wings on Monday, December 4, 2023. Finally free of the pain from his earthly life. Larry was born to Edwin H. and Elsie M. Herman of Mclaughlin South Dakota on November 4, 1939. Never knowing if he was born on November 3rd or 4th Larry chose to celebrate his birthday on the 4th of November.
Shortly after completing Mclaughlin High School, in 1957, Larry enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Serving his country proudly, as an ECM IMA TECHNICIAN of the United States Navy. Retiring after a total of 16 years of service.
It was on Mother's Day of 1963 when he accompanied his friends to a diner where he met a beautiful, spunky woman, named Margorie Wilma Foster. It was on August 10, 1963, he and Margorie were married. To this union, Larry Robert Herman II and Darren Keith Herman were born.
After retiring from the Navy, the family moved to Forsyth, where they made their home and raised their boys. It was here that Larry went to work at Montana Power in Colstrip.
When not at work, Larry would be at the Happy Gardener, his and Marge's passion, which he and the boys built from the ground up. It was during this time; he shared his love of woodworking and electronics with his boys. Spending many weekends on antiquing trips.
Larry was a quiet man, unless he was watching his beloved Boston Celtic, Seattle Seahawks (or as his friends would tease him the Swamp Pigeons), then you could hear him yell. If you had a deck of cards, he was always up for a game. He was also an avid bowler, one night, he bowled a perfect game during league.
Larry's love of fireworks on the 4th of July and family get togethers was one of Bob's favorite memories of his dad and Darren's favorite memory was building the greenhouse, the Happy Gardner in Forsyth.
Larry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marjorie, his sons Larry (Michelle) Herman of Billings, Darren (Tandra) Herman of Butte. Grandsons, Larry R. III and Cheye R. Herman of Billings, and a granddaughter, Kelsey Draper of Miles City.
He was preceded in death by his many family and friends, including his first granddaughter, Emily Marie. Whom he affectionately called his little Miss Em.
