Larry Robert Hobbs, 78, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 12, 2025, at his home surrounded by family and loved ones after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was under the care of Solace Hospice.
Larry was born December 28, 1946, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Melvin Robert Hobbs and Elda Lillian Peterson Hobbs. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho State University with an associates in Mechanical engineering.
On September 1, 1967, he married Laura Lee Vollmer in Idaho Falls. Larry and Laura made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Larry worked as a Design-Build Contractor.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Larry served in the Idaho Falls Temple, as a financial clerk in the ward and stake, and he enjoyed working with the young men. Larry enjoyed being outdoors and fishing, hunting, skiing, snow machining, shooting, boating, and four-wheeling. His biggest love was flying; he built two airplanes and instilled the love of flying in his grandchildren.
Larry is survived by his wife, Laura Hobbs of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Jessica Lee (Jamie) Schmidt of Evanston, WY; daughter, Erica Jean (Brian) Jones of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Danica LaRee Hobbs of Parker, CO; sister, Carol Dodge of Fairfield, MT; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Elda Hobbs; and sister, Eldean Bradley.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 17, 2025, at the Park Taylor Ward, 260 Castlerock Lane. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and Monday from 10:00 -10:45 a.m. prior at the church. Burial will be in the Wilford Cemetery.
