Larry George Huntoon
1947 to 2024
Larry Huntoon was born at St. Bernardine’s Hospital on November 24, 1947, to Albert A. Huntoon and Pauline M. Huntoon (nee Hill). He was taken to his home in Colton, where he met his sister, Maryetta, and his brother, Michael.
Larry was among the third generation of Huntoons to attend Lincoln Elementary School and to later graduate from Colton High School. From there, he went to San Bernardino Valley College then off to San Luis Obispo Polytechnic College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a major in Architectural Engineering.
After procuring a job in civil engineering, Larry married Margaret Ann Mattox at the Colton United Methodist Church. They made their home in Colton, where they raised their four children. They were married 52 years.
Larry grew up in the Methodist Church, then later attended the Colton Community Church, where he was a member for forty years. Larry’s career included being the maintenance engineer for several businesses, the last being Fontana Paper Mills from which he retired in 2018.
Larry passed away on August 20, 2024 at the age of 76, after several years of battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He is survived by his wife, Ann Huntoon; children Charles, Elizabeth, Debrah Romero and Albert Huntoon; his sister, Maryetta Ferre; nephew, Jeffry Ferre; niece, Julie Shuler and granddaughter, Margaret Rose Romero.
