Larry Michael Jones, of Hartford City, Indiana, passed away peacefully at IU Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana, on Saturday, April 5th, 2025. Born on January 14th, 1942, in Baraboo, Wisconsin, Larry was 83 years old. He was the son of Kerwood Gardner Jones and Leona Mitchel Humphrey, both of whom preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving brothers, Patrick Jones (Marlyce) of Waddell, AZ, and Thomas Jones (Velma) of Irvine, CA; and sisters, Dawn Allen (Scott) of Citrus Heights, CA, Cindy Earl (Steve) of Springboro, IN, and Julie Mapes of Bedford, IN.
A proud graduate of Dunkirk High School in 1960, Larry was a skilled forward on the Dunkirk Speedcats Basketball team, a testament to his athleticism and teamwork. He dedicated 36 years of his career to the 3M Company, serving as a respected Supervisor and retired in 1998.
It was at his 30th Dunkirk High School reunion that Larry reconnected with and later married Geraldine (Geri) Vickers in 1991. They were married at Westwood United Methodist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. He cherished their time together and the life they built in Hartford City. Geri survives him.
Larry had a passion for life and enjoyed many hobbies. He loved spending time on the golf course, casting a line while fishing, and exploring new destinations through travel.
He will be deeply missed by his children: Natalie A. Adams (Joe) of Muncie, IN, Chad M. Jones (former spouse, Jan) of Fort Wayne, IN and Nick Jones of Glenwood Springs, CO. Larry was a proud grandparent to Lauren Henry (Darron) and Devin Shields, and a loving great-grandparent to Elle Henry, Lillian Henry, and Esmerilla Shields. In his youth, Larry attended Union Chapel in Milgrove, and as an adult, he regularly attended Grace Methodist Church.
Funeral Service will be at 2 PM Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Grace Methodist Church, 312 West Washington Street, Hartford City, Indiana with Pastor Jeanne Winter officiating. Burial will follow at Black Cemetery in Albany.
Visitation will be from 12 to 2 PM Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Grace Methodist Church.
Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High Street, Hartford City in charge of arrangements.
Memorials can be made to Grace Methodist Church, 312 West Washington Street, Hartford City.
Larry's memory will be cherished by his family and friends for his kind heart and the joy he found in life.
