Larry Jones Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Highland Hills Funeral Home & Crematory on Feb. 25, 2026.
Mr. Larry Darnell Jones Sr. was born on November 18, 1951, in Pulaski, Tennessee. He peacefully

departed this life in his sleep at home on February 18, 2026.

From an early age, Larry developed a deep love for hard work. He graduated high school in

Pulaski, TN and carried that strong work ethic with him throughout his life. He dedicated 17 years

of service as a welder at Whirlpool before retiring. Prior to that, he worked at Aladdin, where he

met the love of his life.

Larry was grounded in the faith of God. His belief was not shallow or temporary. It was the

foundation of his life, like a house built on solid rock. Because he was grounded in faith, he

remained calm in storms and humble in blessings.

Larry was truly a man of many talents. He successfully owned and operated a wrecking service

for several years before becoming affectionately known in the community as "the Lawn Man."

Whatever he put his hands to, he mastered. There was nothing he couldn't fix, build, or figure

out. He worked diligently, provided faithfully, and took pride in everything he did.

He had a true passion for motorcycles and enjoyed watching sports, especially cheering on his

beloved Dallas Cowboys. He found peace working in his yard and great joy in spending time with

his family. Family meant everything to Larry.

One of his greatest callings was mentoring young men. He had a special gift for guiding young

boys toward becoming strong, responsible men. His wisdom, encouragement, and steady

presence positively impacted many lives. Larry had a heart so open and kind that once you met

him, you were considered family. He was loyal beyond measure and loved deeply.

He was preceded in death by loving wife of 40+ years, Sharon Juanita Jones, his mother, Carolyn

Maxwell Jones; father, John O. Jones Sr.; and his brothers, Coy Jones, John O. Jones Jr., Dennis

Wright and William Jackson (Jack) Jones; his son, Dominick Jones Sr..

He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Larry (Boomer) Jones, Jr.; his daughters, Cheryl Jones

and LaTashia Coleman; and his 6 beloved grandchildren, Dominick Jones, Jr., D'Wayne Venable,

Deontay Foster, LaMaechen (Brandon) Gilbert, Larry Jones III, Lyric Jones, Landis Jones, C'Niphia

(Jason) Deville, and C'ynaia Pate. He is also survived by his brothers, Buford (Elizabeth) Jones,

Michael Jones, and Benjamin Jones; his sisters, Annie Ruth Blair, Jannett (Frank) Collier, Ruby

Jones; his sister in-law, Clara Jones; his god-siblings, Marilyn Graham; brother in-law, Kenneth

Pittman, his lifelong friends; and the many lives he touched along the way.

He will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever remain a blessing to those privileged

enough to have known and loved him.
