Larry Melvin King, of Edison Georgia passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at the Willson Hospice House at the age of 74. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Mathews Funeral Home. Interment will follow to Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev. Caleb Davis will officiate.
Born on July 22, 1951, in Moultrie Georgia to the late Melvin Henry and Alice Wilson King. Larry was raised in Hartsfield GA, and moved to Leesburg Georgia in 1974. Larry dedicated much of his life to his career, retiring after 32 years as a lead journeyman with Georgia Power.
Larry took pride in his profession and was a proud member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1285 and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union. In his personal life, Larry was a man of many passions and interests. He found great joy in music, often entertaining friends and family with his singing and guitar playing. Karaoke nights at the Moose Lodge were a highlight for him, where his love for music could be shared with others. He also cherished his time spent fishing and showing boundless affection for his animals.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kay Thompson King and his fiancé Dianne Pietras and a brother Jerry King.
Survivors include his son, Mel King (Ashley) of Lee County, and his daughter, Karrie King McKee (Scott) of Oveido FL, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild, his siblings, Marvin King, Vicky Waldrop, and Shelia Cash, all of Hartsfield, GA.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at Mathews Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Larry’s memory to a humane society of your choice.
