Larry William King, 66, of Burlington, NC, passed away early Saturday morning, November 22,2025, after a hard-fought battle with cancer, leaving behind a life rich with love, laughter, and service. His passing leaves a hole that cannot be filled but his spirit- steady, generous, and full of heart- lives on in everyone who was blessed to have known him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Jeanie King, and his nephew, Neil Robinson.
Larry is survived by his wife, Carla King; his son, Nick King, and girlfriend, Caroline, of Charlotte, NC; his daughter, Samantha Ferguson, her husband, Chad, and their two sons, Reed and Finn, of Wendell, NC; and his daughter, Chandler Autry, her husband, Andrew, and their three children, Carson, Easton, and Carter, of Gibsonville, NC. He is also survived by his sister, Lori Robinson, and her husband, Brian, of Greenville, SC; and his nephews, Elliot Robinson, of Washington, DC, and Stewart Robinson, of Tega Cay, SC.
For 50 years, Larry dedicated his life’s work to King Electric where the men he worked alongside were far more than coworkers- they were his brothers.
Larry proudly served with the Elon Volunteer Fire Department in his younger years. He devoted time to serving on numerous mission trips, where he could offer not only his skills but also his compassion for others. He was also an accomplished Eagle Scout, a member of St. Marks Church, and loved a good ride with his motorcycle buddies.
He cherished the camaraderie he found in the Saturday morning breakfast club and the simple joy of time spent with his fishing buddies.
Above all, Larry’s heart belonged to his family. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Carla, for 45 years and they built a beautiful life together. He was the proud dad to his three children who always knew they could count on him for any and everything.
Nothing brought him more joy and happiness than being “Sparky” to his five grandchildren. He never missed an opportunity to brag about them every chance he got.
He shared an unbreakable bond with his big sister who walked with him through every season. He was “Unc” to his nephews who he loved to joke around with.
To his family, Larry was more than a husband, father, Sparky, and brother. He was their rock to lean on. He showed up to everything and made sure everyone felt cared for. His devotion was absolute and the love they share will forever be one of his greatest legacies.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 25, at St. Marks Church located at 1230 St. Marks Church Rd. Burlington, NC 27215.
