Larry Klaffke, 74, of Buckeye passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Hansen Family Hospital in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 30, 2023 at the Buckeye Community Center with burial in the Alden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Buckeye Community Center. A prayer service will be held at 6:50 p.m. at the end of the visitation. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls.
Larry Herman Klaffke was born on January 12, 1949, in Eldora, Iowa to Wilfred and Merna (Stielow) Klaffke. He graduated from Alden High School in 1967. On March 16, 1975, Larry was united in marriage to Cindy Larson in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Buckeye. Larry was with the Buckeye Fire Department for 40 years and served as the Assistant Chief. He was a member of the Alden 4-H Club and the Alden FFA. He also loved attending his grandchildren's many events that they were involved in.
Larry is survived by his wife Cindy, of Buckeye, son Brian (Amy) Klaffke of Alden, daughter Gena (Adam) Mitchell of Waukee, grandchildren Afton and Brecken Klaffke of Alden, Tanner Dotson and Olivia Mitchell of Waukee, brother Marv Klaffke of Buckeye sisters-in-law Mary Klaffke of Buckeye, Barb (Donnie) Hanna of Buckeye and Sharon Carpenter of Iowa Falls and 14 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Wilfred and Merna Klaffke, parents-in-law Leo and Ruth Larson, brother Dennis "Lou" Klaffke and brother-in-law Lary Larson.
