Larry "Butch" Kraft

Rockwell City – Larry "Butch" D. Kraft 76, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home, Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City, with Pastor Jim Davis officiating. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until service time. Burial will be at the Lanesboro Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Rockwell City Veterans Organization. Butch is survived by his children, Timothy (Staci Lauderdale) Kraft of Springfield, MO, Jennifer (Mark) Presson of Suffolk, VA, Christopher Kraft of Virginia Beach, VA, and Christina Kraft of Virginia Beach, VA; 5 grandchildren; his sisters, Marjorie (Ed) Kast, Karen (Buzz) Ruby, and Kay Schamel, all of Council Bluffs, and Linda Reynolds of Rockwell City; brothers, Kenneth Kraft of Rockwell City, Mark (Janis) Kraft of Columbus, NE, and Kevin (Bess) Kraft of Sebring, FL; significant other Bonnie Martin of Harlan; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Harold and Minnie Blanche (McCoy) Kraft; brother Richard Kraft; and sisters, Doris Johnson, and Marilyn Jean Kraft in infancy. Larry Dean Kraft was born August 22, 1941 at Lake City, Iowa. Butch grew up in Rockwell City and graduated from Ames High School in 1959. In 1964, he was united in marriage to Judy Graham and the couple later divorced. Butch served in the United States Navy for 20 years, until his honorable discharge in 1980. Following his military career, Butch raised livestock and was a commercial fisherman. In 1993, Butch moved back to Rockwell City from North Carolina. He worked for K & K Siding until his retirement. Butch enjoyed fishing and raising flowers.
