A Memorial Service will be held at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel in Walters, OK, on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.
Larry Jack Lawson was born to Jack Woodrow and Avah Loretta (Lemons) Lawson on October 13, 1946 in Lawton, OK and departed this life on July 27, 2025 in Geronimo, OK at the age of 78 years, 9 months, and 14 days young.
Larry attended schools in Lawton and Walters while growing up and graduated as a Blue Devil in the class of 1964. He then attended college at OSU, Cameron, and OKC. He married and to the union a daughter, Lesley, was born. Moving from Bethany, OK, to the Dallas area he made his career as a Computer Programmer, working for Braniff, EDS and Sprint. He retired from Sprint and moved to his 80-acre farm west of Walters in 2001.
Larry loved camping and fishing and was a Cub Scout as a kid. He was a big reader and enjoyed doing puzzles. He also loved horses.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Loretta Lawson, and a brother-in-law, Clifford E. “Skip” Barbe.
He is survived by a daughter, Lesley (Lawson) Lewis and husband Geoffrey; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Gronewold) Alaniz and Jon, Kayla Lewis, Lindsey Lewis, Clayton Lewis and Kaitlyn Lindeman, and AvahLyn Lawson; his great-grandchildren, Cecelia and Turner Jack Alaniz, Hunter Lindeman and his baby sister that is on the way; a sister, Jan Barbe; a niece, Stephanie Hale and Rob; his great-nephews and niece, Randen A. Holder, Synder Olivia Holder and Sawyer LW Hale.
