Larry S. Lien

Larry S. Lien, 64, of Fargo, ND, died January 4, 2013 in his home, from complications of lung cancer. Larry Stanley Lien was born on June 25, 1948 in Hillsboro, ND to Elvin and Beatrice (Whitson) Lien. He attended school and graduated in 1966. He served in the United States Army in Germany during the Vietnam War. He returned home in 1969. In 1973 he rejoined the Army Reserves and served twenty years. He retired as a Platoon Sergeant in 1993. In 1970 he married Carol Speer and together they had four children. They later divorced in 1989. On June 5, 1999 he married the love of his life, Sherrie Holte. Larry worked for the NDDOT as a storekeeper for 41 years, retiring in 2010. Larry had a passion for gardening, loved traveling and the Green Bay Packers. Most of all, he enjoyed being involved with his grandchildren; watching his grandsons play sports and granddaughters in dance and gymnastics. Larry is survived by his wife Sherrie, Fargo; one son, Enos (Angie) Lien, Fargo; three daughters, Carrie (Jason) Bryce, Fargo, Suzy Lien, West Fargo, Emily (Jarrid) Gross, Fargo; sister, Inez Flieth, Fargo; and sister-in-law, Carole Lien, Davenport, FL; six grandsons and four granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Curtis. Visitation: Tuesday, January 8, 2013 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. Funeral Service: Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. in Dilworth Lutheran Church, Dilworth, MN. Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Hillsboro, ND.
