Larry Gus Mansfield, age 83, passed away on February 28, 2025. He was born on January 29, 1942, in Glasgow, Kentucky, to the late Gussie G. and Christine Mansfield. Larry was united in marriage to Diane Mansfield on August 17, 1963, and together they shared a loving partnership for over six decades. From this union they were blessed with three children; two daughters, Glenda and Tonya and one son, Larry.

Larry professed Christ and was baptized at 1st Baptist South Inglewood around 1980, further leading his family to his forever worship home of Fairfield Missionary Baptist Church. He sang in the men’s choir and volunteered on the church's mission’s team, always looking for ways to serve his community and his Lord.

Larry earned his GED in Nashville, Tennessee. He worked for many years and retired twice — first from Canteen Services and then from Express Couriers. Larry was an avid runner throughout his life, completing several full and half marathons. He was passionate about maintaining his front and backyards, spending countless summer days tending to his garden. His love for his yard and the outdoors was a well-known part of his character.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Gussie G. and Christine Mansfield, and his brothers James and Roy Mansfield.

Larry leaves to cherish his memory Diane Mansfield his devoted wife of 62 years; his children, Glenda Knox, Tonya (Robert) Barlowe, and Larry Marcel Mansfield; his siblings Martha Carr, Joe D. Mansfield, and Sandra Boykins; grandchildren, Nia (Brandon) Bentley, Darrin Mansfield, and Dequan Mansfield; and his great-grandchildren, Brandon and Trinity. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family Lakesha Lathon and his Fairfield Missionary Baptist Church family, who will miss him dearly. Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His life was marked by unwavering devotion to his family, his faith, and his passions. He was a kind, compassionate man who always put others before himself. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Rest in Peace, Larry Gus Mansfield. You will be forever remembered.
