Larry I Manthei

Manthei, Larry I., 80, of Weeki Wachee, Florida, passed away October 14, 2010. He was born on October 4, 1930 in Muskegon, Michigan to George Manthei and Clara Schweissinger. Larry was preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Kathryn. He is survived by his 3 children, Terry, George and Roxann; his 6 grandchildren, Jessica, Vinny, Nicole, Jolene, Carly and Taylor; and his 3 great-grandchildren, Jordan, Alyssa and Andrew. Larry was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After an honorable discharge, he worked at Continental Motors in Muskegon, Michigan. In 1971 he moved to Clearwater, Florida and worked as a Painting Contractor in his own business for over 30 years. When Larry retired, he and Kathryn bought lake front property on Lake Michigan and lived there for several years. They eventually returned to Florida to live and enjoyed traveling the U.S. in their motor coach. Larry’s passion was boating, the beach, the Florida Gators and the Michigan Wolverines. He was an avid fan of NHRA, Indy car racing, and NASCAR with Jeff Gordan being his favorite driver. A visitation for friends will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2010 from 12-1 pm followed by a Celebration of Life service at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the Moffit Cancer Society.
