Larry Gene Marbry, age 70, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him most. Gene family man, hardworking provider, and lifelong jokester, he will be remembered for the laughter he brought into any room he entered. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He dedicated 30 years to farming the land he loved, providing for his family and community. After farming, he continued his commitment to service with the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT), where he worked in highway maintenance for 20 years. Gene also proudly served in the Army National Guard.

Outside of work, Gene could often be found enjoying the outdoors; fishing at his favorite spots, hunting in the woods, or sitting on the front porch. He loved playing pool, shuffleboard, and card games, and you were always in for a good time and likely a good-natured teasing, if you sat down across from him. He was known for his quick wit, his hearty laugh, and a sense of humor that could light up a room. Always joking, always playing around.

Gene is survived by his wife of 44 years, Brenda Marbry, their children; Stephen Marbry (Anna), Larry Gene "Bubba" Marbry Jr , and Jenny Gruthoff (Steven) his siblings; Gary Lee Marbry, Roger Stephen Marbry (Mitzi), Patricia Ann Qualls (Wayne), Kathey Marie Dumas (Dave), 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Virgle Marbry, his daughter, April Marbry and his brother, Rickey Lynn Marbry.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 27th, 2025 at Maley Yarbrough from 10:00am to 11:00am with a service to follow at 11:00am. Burial and military services will be at Covington Memorial Gardens.
