Larry Ottis McGlashan, a dedicated homebuilder and lifelong resident of Glennville, GA, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah. Larry was born on January 6, 1943, in the Gooseneck Community of Glennville, to Ottis and Janie Thompson McGlashan.
A proud graduate of Glennville High School in 1961, Larry established himself as a prominent homebuilder through his company, McGlashan Construction Co. He played a vital role in shaping homes of Tattnall and Evans County by constructing numerous homes, providing families with safe and comfortable places to live. His dedication to his craft was unmatched.
Larry was not only instrumental in building homes but also significantly contributed to the spiritual foundation of his community by being a key figure in the construction of Smyrna Baptist Church, where he was a member. His sense of humor and infectious laughter endeared him to all who knew him, leaving behind countless memories.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Larry found solace and happiness in his personal interests. He had a deep appreciation for nature, especially his cherished pecan trees, as well as a love for fishing and working, all of which brought him immense joy.
Larry is preceded in death by, his parents, brother, Raymond McGlashan and daughter, Angela Jill McGlashan.
He is survived by:
Granddaughter, Christie Ray (Nick) of Claxton, Georgia
Great Grandchildren, Billy Johnson (Katelyn), Serinity Johnson (Dan), Jannie Ray
Mother of his child and lifelong friends, Martha Ann McGlashan of Glennville, Georgia
Sister-in-law, Nell McGlashan of Claxton, Georgia
Nephew, Ricky McGlashan (Stacey)
Caregiver, Maria Bastida and two great grandchildren also survive.
Visitation will begin at 6:00, Friday, May 2, 2025 at Brannen Family Funeral Services. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 3, 2025 at the chapel of Brannen Family Funeral Services. Burial will follow in Harmony Church Cemetery.
