Larry Meister Obituary
Larry was born March 4, 1940, to Elmer and Edith (Miller) Meister. He was the oldest brother to Don (Bonnie) Meister, Mary Lawmaster, and Eric (Cindy) Meister. He was preceded in death by two infant brothers.
In 1958, he graduated from Bourbon High School. His class just celebrated their 63rd reunion at the Back Forty this past summer.
On Oct. 27, 1962, he married his lifelong love, Karen George. Soon after, they moved onto the Meister family farm where Larry continued to farm until his unofficial "retirement" at the end of the 2020 fall harvest. Larry and Karen raised their children Ryan Meister, Kristen (Rodney) Younis, Alana (Scott) Mappin, and Brad (Rachelle) Meister. Also surviving are grandchildren Terrin Meister, Brenna (Zac) Cook, Blake (Ana) Hoffer, Joel (Sam) Meister, Jaela Meister, Connor Mappin, Haylee Copsey, and McKayla Mappin. Great-grandchildren Isaac & Alyvia; Gavin & Makenna; Camden, Kinsleigh, & Kyler.
One of Larry's greatest passions was shooting and collecting guns. In 1995, Larry, Karen and family opened Back Forty Sporting Clays. The business is continuing to thrive, and his legacy will continue for many generations.
Larry also drove bus for Triton School Corporation for 27 years. Every child he transported became a part of his family. He was also very involved in Triton Athletics. He was an avid supporter of his children and grandchildren in their athletic endeavors.
Family and Friends may visit on Wednesday, Sept. 29, from 4-8 p. .at Back Forty Banquet Hall. Funeral services officiated by David Stackhouse will be Thursday September 30, 2021 at 11 a.m. Burial at Sandy Ridge Cemetery. The family invites everyone to dinner following at the hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial contributions be made to Triton Athletics.
