Larry Milan Novotny, 87, of Biloxi, Mississippi, passed away peacefully after a long battle with dementia. He was born on January 2, 1938, in Cobb, Wisconsin, to Milan and Luella (Knutson) Novotny.

Larry proudly served in the United States Air Force, enlisting in 1956 and dedicated 20 years of his life to military service. While stationed in France, he met the love of his life, Christiane—a beautiful and spirited young woman who became his wife and partner for 60 wonderful years.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Christiane Novotny; his daughter, Patricia "Patti" Novotny; his parents, Milan and Luella Novotny; and his brother Ralph Novotny.

Larry is survived by his son, John M. (Jill) Novotny; grandchildren, Nicole (Russell) Walsh and Meagan Novotny; extended family, Steven (Marie) Summersell, Garrison (Margaret) Summersell, Quinn Summersell, and Jade Summersell; brother, Stan Novotny of Mt. Horeb, WI; sister, Joan Novotny Ziegelbauer of Middleton, WI; sister-in-law, Gloria Novotny of Brooklyn, WI; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Larry will be remembered for his big smile that could light up any room, his warm heart, and his ability to turn strangers into friends. He never missed a chance to dance, enjoyed fishing, loved animals, took pride in caring for his yard, and delighted in every new gadget he could get his hands on. He also cherished a good cigar and a little whiskey nightcap at the end of the day.

Above all, Larry loved his family deeply. He leaves behind a legacy of joy, laughter, and love that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Summerfield for the exceptional care and compassion they provided.

Air Force honors and committal service will take place at the Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, MS on Monday, January 5, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. with burial to follow.

So, with a toast, we say: Thank you, Larry, for the joy, the laughter, and the love. You will be dearly missed.
