Larry was born June 4, 1949, in Crawfordsville to Malcolm & Lois Weliever Patton. He was a graduate of Crawfordsville High School. He served with the Crawfordsville Fire Department from 1970 to 2007. He returned in 2011 and served as Fire Chief until his second retirement in 2016. He enjoyed woodworking, antiquing, and especially his grandkids' sports.
He married Sue Maple in 1968. She survives. He is also survived by his children, Melissa (Missi) Patton of Waveland; Marcy (Ken) Boillot of Sugar Creek Township, OH; and Nathan (Maranda) Patton of Crawfordsville; Grandchildren Mellany Bull, Kayla (Jeremiah) Pruitt, Syndee (Derek) Dickerson, Ethan Patton, Kaden Patton, Ella Patton, Nora Boillot, Natalie Boillot, Aiden Boillot as well as 8 Great-Granchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Mark (Denise) Patton and Mike Patton, as well as sisters Jacki Patton and Gay (Jim) Harrison.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, November 6, at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Pastor JD Bowman officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery North, with Fire Department Honors.
