Larry Perkins

Larry Perkins, age 79, of Bald Knob, Ark., passed away on Dec. 5, 2025, at Unity Health hospital in Searcy, Ark. He was born on Sept. 24, 1946, to the late Otto and Ruby Perkins (Scates) of Judsonia, Ark.

Larry is survived by his loving sister and brother-in-law, Vicki and Ronald Hacker of Naperville, Ill. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Cecil Perkins and Ronald Perkins. He leaves behind nephews David Hacker (Beth) and Steven Perkins (Beth), and nieces Shana Schifer (Tim) and Jodi Perkins (Robb Wenz). He was a proud great-uncle to Austin Hacker, Keaton Schifer and Lane Schifer. Larry will also be remembered by special cousins JoAnn Scates, Darrell Scates (Wanda) and Gail Christopher, along with many extended family members and friends.

Larry lived life in his own simple, steady way – uncomplicated, kind and honest. He worked for many years as a truck driver in both Arkansas and the Chicago area. Among the jobs he enjoyed was plowing heavy snow from the runways at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport. He loved fishing, and any time spent with him around the water or listening to him share old stories was a gift to those who knew him.

In Bald Knob, Larry could often be found at his favorite restaurant, Farmhouse Café, where the wait staff became like friends. They knew his order, knew his humor and treated him with the care and friendliness he appreciated. Good food, kind people and familiar conversation meant the world to him.

Larry will be remembered as a quiet soul with a gentle heart, someone who never needed much but gave much in return – loyalty and love for his family and friends.

Visitation was held earlier this week at Powell Funeral Home in Bald Knob. Larry was laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Judsonia.
