Larry Owen Peterson, 83, passed away from multiple myeloma at Forsyth Medical Center on Sunday, October 29, 2023. He was a 37+ year member of the Kernersville Masonic Lodge #669 and a 32° Scottish Rite Mason in the Winston-Salem Valley. He was born on November 6, 1939, to the late Lacy and Evelyn Peterson. He had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with his friends and family. Larry was a specialized welder, working in many places like ITT-Grinnell, the Trans Alaskan Pipeline, and Dae-Woo Shipping in South Korea. He went on to become the owner of Peterson Welding and Consultant Services. He also worked with many NASCAR teams and Competition Cams. The family would like to extend their thanks to Cannon and Company for their years of help and service for their business. Larry and his loving wife of 63 years and high school sweetheart, Nancy, attended West Side Baptist Church. He enjoyed his meetings with the Mineral Springs High School Bulldogs. Larry also greatly enjoyed his breakfasts at Pete's Restaurant in Clemmons, NC. Along with his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his son, Dale Ray Peterson. He is survived by his wife Nancy; sons Dean Todd (Lisa) and Dane Eric (Hillary); and one granddaughter Chloe. The family would like to give a special thanks to his doctors of many years Bollinger, Clark, Garrison, Manickam and staff at FIM, Nifong, Peters, Rose, Spivey, and the 9th floor oncology personnel for their excellent care. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Christa Warise officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 11am. The family would request that donations in Larry's memory be made to the American Cancer Society. Gone too soon but perhaps God needed a really great welder.
