Larry Wayne Richardson, 77, of Newcastle, Texas, died in Fort Worth on Monday, September 29, 2025.

He was born in Olney, Texas on April 12, 1948 to Clarence and Jessie Richardson, and he grew up working on his family farm where he developed a lifelong love for the land. Larry graduated high school in Throckmorton before studying wildlife biology at Tarleton State University where he earned his Bachelor and Master's degree. While at Tarleton, he met the love of his life, Marsha Lynn Rexroat. Larry and Marsha married in a small ceremony in Clyde, Texas and shortly thereafter, moved to Young County to raise their family and to take care of the family farm.

In 2001, he began working with the USDA on the local Karnal Bunt Program and retired in 2012. He continued to farm and ranch while teaching his children and grandchildren valuable lessons on the land that he loved. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren in all their activities as well as cooking a meal for his family – he was known for his fried chicken and peanut brittle.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Jessie Richardson, his brothers, Gordon and Jerry Richardson, and his wife, Marsha Richardson. He is survived by his brother Jack Richardson of Big Spring, Texas, his daughter Necia Leigh Richardson Marin and her husband Ismo Marin of Graham, Texas, daughter Leah Beth Richardson Greer and her husband Zack Greer of Weatherford, Texas, along with six grandchildren: Lawson, Maddyx and McCrae Marin and Isabella Landon with husband Connor, Reagan, and Delaney Greer. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Pop – as he was known to his grandkids – loved the simple things in life like driving to the back of his place to check on things, fishing in the Brazos River, or visiting with friends and family around the dinner table. He loved nothing more than to have his children and grandchildren join him on his drives, his fishing trips, and at the dinner table. The drives, fishing on the Brazos, and the dinner table will never be the same without him.

Visitation is Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 6-7 PM in the chapel at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney, Texas, and the funeral is Friday, October 3, 2025 at the Elbert Baptist Church at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Elbert Cemetery Association, 6359 Highway 79, Elbert, Texas 76372
