Larry Sherry

We had the privilege of meeting Larry Sherry in 1992 when our son was invited to an instructional clinic in Glendale , Ca. He gave our son the best lessons on how to better his delivery, and confidence. Our son continue to take lessons from Larry at the Tempe City Batting cage.. Sean looked foward to every lesson that Larry had with him. Thank you Larry for all you patience and the hard work with our son. He really loved every lesson and you taught him so much,.. We lost Sean in 1995 in an automobile accident, but continued to keep intouch with Larry and take his fellow teammates for lessons. I hope that Sean and Larry meet again and continued their friendship... May you R I P. Larry

As I was looking for updates on the LA Dodgers, I was saddened to learn of Larry Sherry's passing. I worked at Don Drysdales Duggout in Van Nuys, CA from 1960 to 1963 and the team players were our frequent customers after local games. Larry was such a standout personally, we really loved him. MEMORY ETERNAL!

To the family of Larry Sherry,
Mr. Sherry turned a baseball fan who was 12, and watching the 1959 World Series with her grandfather,a Chicago White Sox fan, into a loyal Dodger fan for many years.
I have a baseball autographed by him, and all of the then Dodgers, like: Duke Snider, Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale, but the only name I ever cared about was Mr. Sherry's.
That baseball has a special place in my home, and I will always treasure it.
I'm sorry not to have written sooner, but I did not know of Mr. Sherry's death until today, and it was very sad learning of his passing
Please accept my deepest sympathies. Mr. Sherry was a wonderful competitor; something we don't see enough of today.

To the family of Larry Sherry,
I never met Larry, but I am a freelance sports writer and rap song writer / performer, and I have read about him and his career. I also wrote about Norm and Larry in a rap song I performed for the Baseball Hall of Fame to honor Jewish ballplayers. I performed that rap on live radio in Jerusalem a few years ago. My only contact with Larry was when I sent him a signed copy of that song lyrics and a card of his from the Jewish Major Leaguers card set to sign for me. He complied, and sent me a brief handwritten note along with it. I will cherish the card and note, and am sorry I never got to meet him in person. From what I know about him, Larry was a good man as well as a very good baseball player. Your loss is the world's loss, and we--the fans--share in your grief. May the Sherry family know no more sorrow, and may you be comforted along with all the mourners of Zion.

I watched my first major league game on our new TV on August 15, 1959, which was won by Larry Sherry and the Dodger. So that was going to be my favorite team and player. I still have the autographed post card and photo he sent to me as a 12-year old. I have many good memories of following his career. My deepest sympathies to his family.

It always saddens me to see the passing of anyone who made baseball great when it was about the game, and Larry Sherry certainly made that team. He was the reason why the Dodgers won it all in '59, and among the best relievers ever. His family no doubt misses him now, just as baseball has missed him for so many years. Rest in peace, Larry.

Major League Baseball has lost of its dearest brothers.

On August 20, 1959 my dad took me to Cincinnati in my only MLB game we saw together.The Dodgers won 8-5 and Larry preserved the victory when he struck out Willie Jones with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning.

I was so sorry to here of your loss.I will never forget the name of Larry Sherry because as a 10 year old little league pitcher I actually pretended to be him. It truly was intense!He will always be my Favorite TIGER!

My condolence to the family of Mr. Larry Sherry. Though I was not old enough to remember the 1959 World Series, I know that Mr. Sherry played a key role in defeating my Chicago White Sox, four games to two. His relief heroics (series MVP) brought the LA Dodgers their first world championship.
