Larry Eugene Starrett, 78, formerly of Dowagiac, passed away after a long illness on Saturday, March 1, 2025 in Glasgow, KY.
The family will receive guests from 11am until the Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, March 6th, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac, with Brother Steve Wilson of Spiritual Paradise Church of God of the Mountain Assembly in Glasgow, Kentucky, officiating. Burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac. Memorial contributions may be given to VFW Post 1855, Dowagiac. Larry was born August 11, 1946 in Dowagiac, MI to Alvia "Mac" Hobart Starrett and Iola June Phillips Starrett. He was ordained a minister in his late teens and went on to serve as an Army Medic. On July 21, 2012 he married Brenda Joan Francis. Larry spent his life devoted as an evangelist and minister including, at his church in Kalamazoo-Pentecostal Revival Center.
He will be missed by his 4 daughters- Stephanie Ann (Kevin) Sommer, Rachel (Chad) McEwen, Stacy Lynn (Jason) Dark and Tina Kay (Michael) Burdick; 3 sons- Mark Steven (Angie) Starrett, Shawn Lee (Lisa) Starrett and Bruce Lee Starrett; his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his sisters- Sharon Litton and Joyce Mortimore. He was preceded in death by his wife- Brenda Starrett on May 5, 2021; his parents-Mac and Iola Starrett and his brother-Mack Vernon Starrett.
Larry will be remembered as an outstanding man, his beautiful faith in the Lord and his many talents including, the ability to play several instruments-his favorites being the piano and guitar.
