Larry Wayne Stitzel, a real estate broker and lifelong resident of Ocean View in Norfolk, Virginia, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, at the age of 73, surrounded by his loving family in his final moments.
Larry was born on September 18, 1951, to E. Edwin and Kathleen D. Stitzel of Hagerstown, Maryland. He served 4 years in the United States Air Force, was a former police detective of the Fairfax Police Department, Insurance Agent at Ashley & Associates, Inc., and President of the Norfolk Real Estate Company in Norfolk, Virginia.
Larry had many great passions. He enjoyed playing the drums with his Air Force Band at the White House, singing in his garage to his wife and neighbors, playing golf, traveling, sitting on the beach, snow skiing, driving his Mercedes with the top down, and spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Regina Ashley-Stitzel; her children Christopher Miles (Sharon), Janis Aldridge (Patrick), and Michele Evans McCoy (Ryan); 8 grandchildren who were the love of his life: his sister Suzan Lucas (Rudy); nephews Jim Stitzel and Randy Lucas (Danielle); and niece Christy Pruden (Todd); his brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws Barbara Harrell, Bill and Sharon Remley, and Elza and Cathy Mitchum.
Preceded in death by his parents, E. Edwin and Kathleen (Kitty) Stitzel, his brother Charlie and sister-in-law Helen Stitzel.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks to consider donating to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Suncrest Hospice.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on January 11, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home & Crematory, 8464 Tidewater Drive Chapel, Norfolk, Virginia, with a reception to follow. A private burial will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery; his final resting place.
