Larry Darnell Suggs, the son of the late Sidney Suggs and Tempie Smith Suggs, was born on July 16, 1956. He departed this on February 11, 2024.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Cynthia Ann Sharpe Suggs, of the home. A son, James Michael Suggs (friend, Kyra Kifolo), and a grandson, Theodore James Suggs, are all from Orlando, Florida.
He has four brothers: Hubert Suggs (Caroline), Gregory Suggs (Gail) of Greenville, NC, Willie Suggs (Gennether), Henry Odell Suggs (Sherry) of Ayden, three sisters, Sidney Gail Daniels of Winterville, N.C. Lucy Suggs Garris of Grifton, NC; and Faye Carol Herron (James) of Portsmouth, VA. Three sisters-in-law: Linda Sharpe Roberson (William) of Greenville, N.C., Marsha Sharpe of Macclesfield, N.C., and Patricia Faye Sharpe of Tarboro, N.C.; Four brothers-in-law; Jack Sharpe, Sr. (Willette), Arthur Sharpe (Taunya), James Sharpe, Sr. (Christine), all of Richmond, VA, and Alford White, Sr., Washington, D.C. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Larry attended Pitt County schools. He graduated from D. H. Conley High School and earned an associate degree from Pitt Tech, now Pitt Community College. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged.
Larry continued his life of service as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and fireman with Greenville Fire and Rescue for 25 years until his retirement in 2006.
Funeral service will be held Thursday February 15, 2024 12:00 noon at St. Rest United Holy Church. Address: 154 West Hammond Street, Winterville, NC 28590
A meet and greet will be held Thursday February 15, 2024 11:00am at the church.
