Larry Teters Obituary
11, 2025 in Springfield. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on June 1, 1945, to Roy Earl Teters, Jr. and Elizabeth Redford Teters.
Larry grew up in Bolivar, where his family owned and operated Teters Greenhouses
and Floral started by his grandfather Roy Teters early in the century.
Larry graduated from Bolivar High School in 1963 and went on to attend Southwest Baptist.
College in Bolivar before completing his degree at Southwest Missouri State (now Missouri
State University) in Springfield.
After graduating from SMS, Larry began working in the family business, Teters Floral Products, an importer of artificial flowers. It became one of the largest employers in Bolivar and one of the largest artificial flower companies in the U.S. After the family sold Teters Floral in 1972, Larry and his father, Roy, started Universal Artists, a wholesale importer of oil paintings and frames.
This company transitioned into Universal Flowers in Springfield, another wholesale importer of
artificial flowers. Larry was also in the oil business in Oklahoma.
Larry enjoyed playing sports throughout his life and became a very good tennis player as an
adult, winning several local tournaments. A hobby he truly enjoyed was classic cars. He spent
many hours cleaning and polishing his cars and going to car shows all over the Midwest. His
favorite car was his '62 red Corvette.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Elizabeth, and his sister, Janet Lea Teters Snook.
Larry is survived by his wife, Nancy Anderson, originally from Bolivar, and their four children and families, Stanton Teters and his wife Judith of New York, New York; James Teters and his wife Janell of Springfield, and their four children, Evan, Grant, Lola and Roman; Angela Teters Long and her husband Andy of St. Peters, and their two sons Drew and Adam; and Lane.
Teters Coulter and her husband Buddy of Springfield and their two daughters Elle and Lizzie.
Larry's life will be celebrated in a private ceremony in May at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Polk
County. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jacob's Ladder in
Springfield, to honor his memory.
