Larry Eugene Thompson

Larry Eugene Thompson was born on April 10, 1971, to Larry and Jean Thompson. He graduated from Fayette Ware Comprehensive High School in 1991. Throughout his life, Eugene was a hardworking and dedicated man who farmed for James “Preacher” Shelton, James Montague, and Joseph McNabb. His final and most cherished years were spent farming and working alongside his longtime friend, Mark McNabb, and his brother, Chris. Farming and fishing were not just hobbies to him—they were passions that reflected his love for the outdoors and the simple joys of life.

On August 23, 2005, he married the love of his life, Shelia Evans Thompson. Together they built a life centered around family and their two daughters.

Eugene is survived by his devoted wife, Shelia Thompson; his two daughters, Madison and Alexzandria; his mother, Jean Mays; his sister, Angela Whittemore (Chris); and his brother, Chris Thompson (Alicia). He is also survived by his nieces, Kirsten Glover (Cody), Jasmine Whittemore, Rebekah Thompson, and Karlee Thompson; his nephew, Colton Thompson; one great-niece, Jessie Ray Glover; his sister-in-law, Sharon Barnes (Larry); and his niece, Riley Varner (Justin), along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Clinton Thompson; his grandparents, Ruby and Clinton Thompson and Paralee Oliver Greman; his nephews, Clinton Wayne Thompson and T.J. Hill; and his stepfather, Raymond Mays.

Eugene loved spending time with his family, and he especially loved his mama’s cooking—a comfort and joy he cherished throughout his life. He will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love for the land, and his deep devotion to those he loved most.

Lovingly written by the family to honor a life well lived.
