Larry Dean Tidwell, a beloved father, brother, and friend, was born on June 11, 1951, in Madisonville, Kentucky, to Otha and Gracie Gray Tidwell. On November 2, 2025, surrounded by the love and warmth of his family, Larry peacefully transitioned to his eternal home.
With a commendable career, Larry dedicated many years of his life to Alcoa as a certified heavy equipment operator before extending his skills to Watkins Trucking and FedEx. Beyond his professional life, Larry was an active member of Memorial Baptist Church, where his faith and community connections flourished. Larry further shared his faith as he also served as the Chaplin of the Otis Stone American Legion Post 354.
Larry was a man of many interests, often seen donning his signature Kangol hats. He cherished his daily routine of reading the Daily Bread and had a profound love for sports, especially basketball and classic cowboy movies. His adventurous spirit also led him to travel, but his greatest joy came from surprising his family with impromptu visits, creating memories that will be forever treasured.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otha and Gracie Tidwell, along with his brother, Leonard Tidwell, and sister, Elizabeth Watkins. Larry leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and countless cherished moments. He is survived by his daughters, Dorissa Morris (Robert), Tonya Smith (Donald), Latosha Moody (Rico), and Connika King; his sons, Joseph Franklin (Charon), Kevin Tidwell, and Larry Tidwell Jr. (Jessica); his sisters, Theresa Tidwell-Black, Arlinda Payne, Lois Moore (Terry), Angie Tidwell, and Alice Tidwell; and his brothers, Alan Tidwell (Retina) and Chris Stafford. He will be deeply missed by his 20 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, Bonus daughters, Sonia Thomas of Indianapolis Indiana Yolanda, Robinson, (Derrick) Virginia Beach, Virginia, special cousin; Christy Tidwell, special and devoted caregiver; Amanda Foree and a host of extended family and friends.
