Larry Raye White

Larry Raye “Gator” White, 65, of Amherst, VA, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Jennifer Camden White.

Born in Lynchburg, VA, on November 9, 1960, and raised in Appomattox, he was the son of the late Mary Robertson Gunter and the late Henry Alvin White Jr. He and Jennifer were long time members of Piney Ridge Baptist Church. Gator loved his family and watching his grandkids play sports. He enjoyed performing music with his band, Gator and Sundown Band, the Minnesota Vikings, cheering for the Wood Brother’s NASCAR team, karaoke, and spending time with his friends.

He is survived by two children, Jason White and wife, Holly, Christina Glover and husband, Robert; three step-children, Dale Tyree, Michael Tyree, and Melinda Tyree-Lopez; four grandchildren, Ryley, Grace, Luke, and Odin; six siblings, Henry A. White III and wife, Pam, Patty Robertson and husband, Allen, Jerry Lee White and wife, Felicia, Lisa Faye White, Tamera Seay Quade and husband, James, Johnny D. White and wife, Dianne; step-father, Richard Gunter and his twin sister, Lisa; numerous step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Katie-Lou, Millie-Sue, Merle and cat, Smokie Joe.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Wayne White; and one brother-in-law, R. Dyches Seay.

A funeral will be held at 11 am, on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Robinson Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Daniel Ripley. A burial will be held after the service, at 1 pm, at Amherst Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Robinson Funeral Home.
