Lascelles Wright Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Lascelles Wright was born on April 20, 1945 in Ginger Grove, St Elizabeth, Jamaica WI to William and Daisy Wright (née Williams). He was the second child of the union which created 14 children. He grew up in Breadnut Walk, St Elizabeth Attending the Merrywood All age School and teaming up with his older sister Tiny gathering fruits, ground provisions and firewood helping to provide for his family even at that very tender age.
He later moved to Lambs River, Westmoreland where he finished his schooling and from there moved to Montego Bay, St james. It was in Montego Bay that he met, fell in love and married Annie Wilson. Annie brought a daughter to live with them and their union produced three other children. Throughout his life, Lascelles was a very industrious, capable and entertaining personality who embraced everyone he met with loving hospitality. He was the best father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend that ever lived among us.
He enjoyed cooking most of all and always had a table spread. His varied occupations included working on board a cruise liner as a waiter and entertainer, operating several restaurants, a short stint at JCPenney stores and at Publix supermarkets from where he finally retired in December of 2024. Lascelles lived at several locations in Montego Bay-Perry Street, Princess Street, Green Pond, Glendevon, East Street and Greenwood Village where he built his family home. He migrated to the United States in the early 2000s living in South Florida until the time of his passing.
Although he was not one to brag about his faith Lascelles had a deep love for God and made his confession accepting water baptism on August 14, 2022 at the Pentecostal Tabernacle in Miami, Florida. Lascelles is remembered with deep affection by his family, relatives, friends and neighbors who he cherished with great enthusiasm and passion.
He was predeceased by his parents who both passed in middle age, brothers Petan, Donald, Osborne (Dear Boy) and Charles. He is mourned by one brother-Venice and 7 sisters-Tiny, Zena, Pansy, Paulette, Suzet, Alma and Olive. He will be greatly missed by his immediate family-Wife Annie sons Kirk and Wayne: daughters Nadine and Melody, a multitude of nieces and nephews most of whom call him their favorite uncle and a host of good friends.
The ones who will miss him most are his precious grandchildren who were mostly "born in his hands." They called him DADDY. They are Sarika ( Pooch), Jody ( Punky), Nipaul, Nicolas, Karalee and Nathan. Additionally his 2 granddaughters from son Wayne Deannie and Deanna who reside in Belize. He also had one great grandchild Liam. He is gone but will continue to live in our hearts leaving us a legacy of hospitality, friendship and goodwill to all. He is asleep in the arms of Sweet Deliverance.
