Lashonda Layvette "Toot" Hines/Rucker was born on July 6, 1975, in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Lashonda departed this life on February 6, 2026. She was preceded in death by her grandmothers: Louise Arrie Hines and Julia Rucker; cousin, Ray Knox Jr.; and great-grandmother, Callie "Mourn" Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters: Jashonda "Mook" Hines, Jamiya Rucker, Jarrie Hines, and Jaeonn Taylor; sons: Jamal Grant and Jarvon Rucker; grandchildren: Melody Grant, Jenesys Garner, James Garner IV, Samari Grant, Ja'Zyion Harris, Malasia Grant, and Jasiah Rucker; father, Franklin D. Hines Jr.; mother, Kimberly D. Rucker; sisters: Edna Hines, Mary Hall, Kimberly Swanson, Tammy (Terry) Logan, Zakia Bennett, Juanita Miller, Chene (Tyrone) Westmoreland, Lashella (Ronald) Kuehn, Congetta (Dawon) Wooden, Jasmine Hines, Shardae Woods, Zhane Woods, and Rolaunda Young; brothers: Nathan (Faye) Swanson, Johnny Hines, George (Maxine) Hines, Rodney Bennett, Franklin Hines III, Omar McKinney, Johnathan Steel, and Darrius Hines; aunt: Deborah Stokely; great-aunts: Ophelia "Big O" Johnson and Mary "Frances" Ellis; devoted cousins: Niya Davis, Lawonna (Jason) Foust, Natron Swanson, and Jamichael Swanson; devoted friends: Anthony "Squeaky" Page, Chastity Clemons, Shantay Montgomery, Shante Brown, Fudoreya Wade, Linda Walker, Nanette Chase, Ayisha Hall, Willa & Annie Mack, and Terry North; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 22, 2026 from 2-3:00 p.m. with the Celebration of Life Service to begin at 3:00 p.m. at the Unity Mortuary Chapel.
