Latella Stewart Obituary

Latella Imogene (Spurlock) Stewart, passed away in the morning hours of February 18, 2025, at Altercare Nursing Home in Bucyrus, Ohio. She was accompanied by her nieces, daughter Alicia Eaton, and nephew Tod Spurlock. "Imogene" was born November 30, 1939, near Portland, Tenn., to Leslie Martin Spurlock and Edith Virginia (Forehand) Spurlock.

Imogene was very active in The Church of God of Prophecy from an early childhood; heavily influenced by her grandfather, Herman "Bapa" Spurlock, whom organized the funding and building of The Church of God of Prophecy in Carrothers, Ohio.

Imogene was very proud of her first employment at Donnelly's Printing as a proof reader, in Willard, Ohio. She later graduated from Marion (Ohio) Technical College and took on a career with Ohio Job & Family Services, Crawford, Greene, and Wayne Counties, Ohio, which she retired from after 27 years. She was also a member of The Christ Gospel Church, pastored by the Reverend Jack Hager.

She was wed for 30 years to Kenneth Dale Stewart of Danville, In., at age 27. She then bore 4 children, son, Kevin Michael Stewart of Bucuyrus, Ohio, Shonda LeAnn Stewart of Centerville, Ohio, Kimberly Dawn Stewart Hall of Cedarville, Ohio, and estranged daughter Sheila Elaine Earley of Xenia, Ohio. She was the proud grandmother of Tim Dylan Stewart of Brunswick, Ohio, Keith Michael Stewart of Xenia, Ohio, Taylor Danielle "Jasper Rae" Stewart of Bucuyrus, Ohio, Christopher James (Marissa Kaye) Roden, of Vandalia, Ohio, and Tiffany Leighanne Roden of Centerville, Ohio. She was "Great-gramma" to Camden James, Lincoln Thomas, Keegan Wesley and Ella Sage, Lena James, Maya Evans, Cecelia Stewart and Olivia Stewart. She is also survived by her older brother, Sherrill Spurlock, her younger sister Lydia Marie Fairchild, and brother James Martin Spurlock; and cousins Joyce (Wade) Scott and Ruth (Wade) Hager. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Cory Marshal Stewart of Bellefontaine, Ohio.

Visiting hours will be held from 10am-11am Saturday, February 22, 2025, at The Church of God of Prophecy located at 8765 St. Rt. 4 in Carrothers, Ohio. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Thomas Weill, of Urbana, Ohio, presiding. Hanneman Funeral Home, Attica, Ohio, have been graciously entrusted with her care.
