Laura Lavezzo Carrico
July 11, 1971
January 7, 2024
Laura Lavezzo Carrico, 52, born in Washington, DC, left us too soon on January 7, 2024 in Cumming, GA, after a long and courageous battle with leiomyosarcoma. She is survived by her loving husband Michael Carrico, parents Paul and Sheryl Lavezzo, sister Jennie Lavezzo Eade (Colin), brothers Adam Lavezzo (Kimberly Hanley) and Nate Lavezzo, sister Joy Lavezzo Katz (Brent), sisters-in-law Shelley Ashby and Stephanie Strout, as well as several nieces and nephews who adored her.
Laura was educated at the University of Maryland, where she graduated with a degree in marine biology, and at Brenau University, where she received her teaching certificate. She was the Lifestyle Editor of the Forsyth County News prior to her 20 year career as a beloved elementary and middle school teacher in Forsyth County. Her creativity, kindness, curiosity, sense of humor, and loving nature will be missed by all who knew her. Join us for a Celebration of Life Open House on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 1pm-4pm at 3 Oaks Farm and Events, 3565 Tallant Dr. Cumming, GA 30028. Please feel free to wear colorful clothing. Mike, my heart goes out to you. I’d looked forward to meeting Laura. You and I, friends since 1968 at Carolina. Hope we can get together some time, despite the many miles of America between Cumming and Phoenix.

Sending love, prayers, and condolences to Mr. & Mrs. Lavezzo, and all of Laura's siblings, family, and friends. I'm grateful that Laura's light and humor are a part of my memories from childhood and into adulthood. From playground games, the All Saints parade in 1st grade, talent shows, and Brownies at St. Bernadettes, to homecomings, plays, and football games in high school. And then late nights of dancing at the 94th Aero Squadron in college and laughing with friends. I know her joy and laughter will be missed. As my St. B's classmates shared the news about Laurie's passing this last week, we all shared how her witness of celebrating family, crafts, animals, nature, her deep love for her husband, and simple joys as she fought the toughest battle was an incredible testament to grace and who she was. May she rest now free of pain and worry. Angels, make haste.
Warmly, Anne Marie Cribbin
