Laura Ann Flannery, 38, of Franklin, MA, died unexpectedly at her home on November 7, 2025.
Born in Boston on June 15, 1987, Laura was the daughter of Ann Palumbo Flannery of Franklin, MA and of Kevin J. Flannery of Walpole.
Laura, a lifelong Franklin resident, graduated from Franklin High School in 2005, where she excelled both in the gymnasium–as a captain of the gymnastics team–and in the classroom.
Laura's considerable scholastic achievements in high school earned her The Holy Cross Book Award, allowing for a free application to the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, to which she would matriculate in August 2005. In college, Laura continued to thrive academically and athletically, double-majoring in Spanish and Psychology, while also proudly sporting the Crusader Purple as a member of the track & field team specializing in the hammer throw.
Professionally, Laura worked for nearly two decades in the web development and design industry, starting with Getfused in South Boston, MA, and eventually transitioning to CivicActions where she proudly specialized in ensuring website accessibility for the disabled. Laura took great pride in being an indispensable part of her team.
In her free time, Laura was an intrepid world-traveler, embarking on solo adventures to the Galapagos Islands, Greece, and even a year-long excursion to Barcelona, Spain, where she put her hard won Spanish fluency to good use.
When not globetrotting, Laura filled her life with her other close loves–her three nieces and books. An adoring "Auntie," Laura showered love onto her nieces–Sarah, Elizabeth, and Catherine–sharing with them her lifelong love of books.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sister Christine Flannery Higgins and husband Matt Higgins of Williston, Vermont, her brother Kenneth Flannery of Arlington, Virginia, her brother James Flannery and his partner Meg Premo of Brighton, and her father's wife Lori Giordano Flannery.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at St. Mary's Church (One Church Square, Franklin, MA) at 11:00 A.M.
Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 4-7 P.M. at the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street, Franklin, MA.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Laura's memory to the Friends of the Franklin Library, PO Box 147, Franklin, MA 02038 or the SAFE Coalition, 31 Hayward Street, Suite 2C, Franklin, MA 02038.
