Laura Ellen Gingerich, age 94, a resident of Spooner, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home on November 11, 2025, surrounded by her family. Her beloved husband of 74 years passed away in August, 15, 2025
Laura was born October 29, 1931, in Indiana, to Oba and Fannie Miller. On October 29, 1950, she married Mahlon Gingerich, and they lived in Indiana till 1969, when they bought a farm and moved to Wisconsin.
Laura was a homemaker. After moving to Wisconsin, she worked as a nurse at the Spooner Hospital- one year as a CNA, and twelve years in the emergency room. She loved to do many crafts, quilts, crocheting, painting pictures, flowers and gardening. Laura worked with Mahlon for 15 years in Mennonite Disaster Service, either cooking meals or helping with the bookkeeping. She was a member of the Exeland Mennonite Church.
She is survived by her children, Roseann (Ken) Schrock of Moorcroft, WY; Ronald (Wanda) Gingerich of Topeka, IN; Sandra (Norman) Swantz of Kalona, IA; Donna (Lloyd) Sensenig of Spooner, WI; John (Christina) Gingerich of Spooner, WI; Dan (Marsha) Gingerich of Middlebury, IN; Regina (Jim) Hershey of Sparta, WI. 28 grandchildren; 71 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; one sister Sara Miller.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Mahlon, four brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 14,2025, at the Spooner Funeral Home from 4:00 – 7:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Northwoods Mennonite Church at 14547 County Hwy K, Hayward, Wisconsin, with visitation at the church from 10 – 11 AM. Alvin Stoll and Jim Kauffman will officiate the funeral. Pallbearers will be Laura's grandsons.
Burial will be at the Anah Cemetery, on County Road A, Spooner, Wisconsin.
