Mrs. Laura Mai Watkins Perkins was born June 25th, 1933, in Wilson County, Tennessee to Jerry and Oddie Watkins. Laura went home to be with the Lord on Saturday Morning, November 8, 2025, at her residence in Nashville, Tennessee.
Laura married Robert Perkins, Sr. and to this union 5 children were born. Laura was employed by Parkview Hospital for over 25 years. After retirement she began keeping children in her home. Laura Mai better known as Lotti Dotti enjoyed her nickname. She also enjoyed her church family who gave her the name. She loved being around family and always said “love your family” and “everybody be blessed”.
Laura was funny, you would never know what would come out of her mouth, and she didn’t mind telling you off!!!! Laura was a member of Ephesian P.B. Church under the leadership of Dr. J.L. Fitzgerald and currently under the leadership of Dr. Cornelius Hill. Laura enjoyed working in the church she sang in the choir for many years.
When Laura lost the use of her legs she didn’t let that stop her, she kept pushing and made sure she got to church. She loved good singing and preaching, she loved her church family and they loved her.
Laura’s hobbies were traveling with her social club, bowling and playing bingo, a beautiful rose has been plucked and will truly truly be missed.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents (Jerrie & Oddie Watkins) her husband Robert Perkins, Sr. two sons, Robert Jr., and Donald Perkins, three brothers, Charles, Bobby, and Clarence Watkins one sister, Sarah Buchanan, two great-great-grandsons, Kristopher, Howard and Javon Davis Williams.
She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter, Vanessa Scruggs, two sons, Michael and Dexter Perkins, four granddaughters, Robin (Kenneth) Anthony, Kimberly Perkins, Shetika Davis, and Kalehia Cheely, five sisters, Josie Coltrain, Gerald Burks, Beatrice Fayne, Linda Watkins and Sharon Watkins, two brothers, Richard (Marie) Watkins, Jerry (Mary) Watkins, 10 grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, special friends, Jonnie Turner, Bertha Buchanan, Laura Rolston, Deborah Fleming, Jessie Boyd Price, Joe Pendergrast, Dexter Wade, and the Ephesian Church Family one god daughter, Anika Cosby.
