Laura Silberman Shepherd, 61, of Heathsville, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Laura was born in Fairfax, Virginia, to the late David James Silberman and the late Mary Tinsmen Porter Silberman. She was the devoted wife of Scott Wayne Shepherd.

Laura was the co-owner and manager of her family business, Silco Truck Service, where her dedication and attention to detail helped the business thrive. A proud resident of the Northern Neck for nearly 40 years, Laura embraced the community she called home.

Although born in Northern Virginia, Laura loved the slower, friendlier pace of life in the Northern Neck, where a handshake still sealed a deal and you knew all of your neighbors. Laura kept the business organized and running smoothly, but her favorite escape was the sweet cabin she and Scott have in the mountains of West Virginia, and they went there as often as they could. She was also an animal lover, especially fond of dogs, and shared her life with many beloved pets. Laura proudly served for twelve years on the Callao Volunteer Rescue Squad, cherishing the time spent helping neighbors and making a difference in her community.

Above all, Laura loved her family. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother. Her memory will be carried on by her husband, Scott; her daughter, Nicole Vasquez (Travis), and their daughter, Emmalynn; her son, Christopher Buchner, and his son, Sebastian; her sister, Cyndi Caraway; her uncle, Billy Silberman; her sister-in-law, Stacy DuCellier (Vince); and many dear friends and neighbors.

Welcoming Laura into eternal rest are her parents, Dave and Mary, and her beloved son, David Wright. We can only imagine the joy of their reunion.

A Celebration of Laura's Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Welch Funeral Home, Marks Chapel. All are welcome to attend and share their memories with Laura's family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Laura's memory to the Northumberland County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 305, Heathsville, VA 22473, in honor of her love for animals.
