Laura Jane LaFleur Smith, age 76, of Kaplan, LA, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025, at her residence.
Laura was born in Kinder, Louisiana. She was a lifelong member of Kaplan Baptist Church, where she dedicated decades to serving others through countless acts of kindness and church ministry. A cherished mother and adored grandmother, she lived a life of quiet selflessness, always putting family and faith first. Her gentle spirit, tireless work ethic, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jasper (Buddy) Lee LaFleur, Patsy Ruth Bell LaFleur, her grandson Blake Gaspard. Those left to cherish her memory are three children Marshall (Michelle) Gaspard, Jason (Courtney) Gaspard and Monica (Len) Payton; seven grandchildren, and two brothers Roger Dale (Julie), Baines Richard numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Funeral services officiated by Pastor Timmy Farris will be held at Kaplan Baptist Church at 9:00 AM, Tuesday December 16,2025. She will be laid to rest at Nunez Baptist Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Payton Gaspard, Andre Gaspard, Austin Gaspard, Adam Gaspard, Ashton Gaspard, and Mason Fowler.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kaplan Baptist Church.
