Lauranne Jones Wood of Germantown, TN, passed away on November 20, 2025, after complications from dementia.
Lauranne was born on October 31, 1946, to Robert H. Jones and Evelyn J. Jones in Kennett, MO. After Lauranne
graduated from Kennett High School in 1964, she went on to attend college at Ole Miss.
Upon graduating with a degree in Education, she began teaching elementary school in Olive Branch, MS, before embarking
on a 30-year career in the Memphis City School system. Lauranne was a dedicated and compassionate educator, often
working after school with students late into the afternoons, as well as during the summers.

In 1975, Lauranne met Jack Wood while living in Memphis. They were married a year later, prior to having a son, Bradford
Wood. Lauranne was a loving mother who never failed to put her duties as a mom first, spending countless hours helping
her son with his studies, while always sacrificing her time driving him to baseball practice / games and track meets…she
was his biggest fan and supporter. She assured his foundation with our Heavenly Father at an early age, sending him to a
private Christian school.
In 2002, Lauranne retired from teaching and moved to Lakeland, FL., where she resided in an equestrian neighborhood,
with her horse, Lass. As an avid horse enthusiast, she owned multiple horses through the years.
In 2023, Lauranne relocated back to the Memphis area, where she spent her final years.
Lauranne was predeceased in death by her brothers Langdon Robert Jones II, of Little Rock, AR, and Michael "Mike" Jones
of Lakeland, FL, as well as Patricia Jones Yankouski, of Maine. She is survived by her son, Bradford Wood and daughter-inlaw, Christ Duke Wood, both of Memphis, TN, and Jude Wood, of St. Augustine, FL.

Services will be held at McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett, MO, with visitation at 12:00 and the service at 1:00 with Rev. Steven Scherer officiating. Burial in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett. Honored to serve as pallbearers: Bradford Wood, Jude Wood, Michael Jones, Tim Little, Carson Little and Skylar Davis.
